Sustainable heating and cooling for a multi-family house near Brno
With the first separatus project in the Czech Republic, an important milestone was reached. In a small town near Brno, two separatus borehole heat exchangers à 140 metres were successfully installed. The drilling diameter was 132 mm and the drilling was carried out in the hammer drilling process. In the future, the plant will supply an apartment building with sustainable heating and cooling.
The project was implemented by our local installation partner EMBRA Drilling a.s. For separatus, this project is an important step into a market with great potential for shallow geothermal energy.
Technical support from conception to installation
In this first project, we accompanied EMBRA Drilling comprehensively. Support ranged from the initial conception to the plant dimensioning to the technical design / system sizing of the entire geothermal system.
These included in particular:
- Installation simulation
- design / system sizing of separatus borehole heat exchangers
- Calculation of pressure losses
- Hydraulic distribution planning
- Technical coordination with the drilling team
- Training on site during the first installation
Especially in a first project, this close cooperation is crucial. It creates security in planning, reduces risks during implementation and lays the foundation for efficient follow-up projects.
Challenging conditions on the construction site
The installation took place under demanding conditions. Wet weather and a muddy construction site made the work on site more difficult. Nevertheless, the installation of the two separatus probes went smoothly.
Even a non-optimally suitable installation reel could not bring the team of EMBRA Drilling out of the concept. With experience, flexibility and craftsmanship precision, the situation was solved sovereignly. Exactly such moments show how important a strong and professional drilling team is for the successful use of new technologies.
Valuable insights for further projects
Every first project brings new experiences. The insights gained from the installation in the Czech Republic help both teams to further improve the installation process and to tailor the system even more efficiently to the requirements of the market.
